CAFÉ
Our modern café offers a wide variety of hot and cold drinks, snacks, hot and cold sandwiches, paninni’s and cakes. Freshly ground Cappuccino’s, Mocha’s and a wide range of speciality teas & coffees are available, to have in or take away. We stock an increasing range of Fair-Trade tea, coffee, hot chocolate, sugar and snacks. When available, we use freshly picked organic vegetables and salad which is grown right here on the premises (well, in the planting bays of our roof terrace actually!). We also provide an external catering service for local organisations, and others further away who are prepared to collect. Please ask for further details.

INTERNET
Fixed and wireless broadband internet access is available in our ultra-modern mezzanine suite, and throughout the facility.

Over the summer, surfers and travellers sent in over 1000 nominations for internet cafes in 111 countries. The award for Best UK Internet Café was the most hotly contested, with Living Space beating off nominations from over 200 other British venues.
According to James Bilefield, MD Communication Products, Yahoo! Europe, "We felt that Living Space deserved a special commendation because it provides a great service for the local community and at the same time has managed to create a unique and stylish environment where people can surf the web.

Computer access includes use of all Microsoft Office XP programmes. Other services such as printing, photocopying, faxing, scanning, CD writing also available. Internet access is free of charge for some groups of local residents (long-term unemployed & over 50’s, proof of status & address required), ask at reception for details.

TRAINING
We provide an ongoing programme of ‘on-the-job’ work experience placements, for students from schools across the borough. We have provided over 60 students so far, and we try to ensure that students are involved in a meaningful way, in all aspects of our commercial activities and business development. In addition, we also provide supported work experience placements for older NVQ Level 2 students, who are seeking to complete their studies in Business Administration, and one Young Apprenticeship placement.

We are a registered CIEH (Chartered Institute of Environmental Health) training centre and can provide Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering. This qualification replaces both Basic Food Hygiene Certificate and the Foundation in Food Hygiene course. Please call Jo for further information

BLACKFRIARS SETTLEMENT YOUTH & PLAY PROVISION
Partner charity Blackfriars Settlement provides an increasing range of community services from the site, with an emphasis on youth & play provision and adult education. Youth & Play team office is situated at Living Space. An extensive programme of evening, weekend, summer and mid-term activities are provided, with a schedule of activities being posted on the notice-board at the entrance to Playspace.

SE1 UNITED YOUTH FORUM
SE1 United have been based at the Living Space since 2005 and deliver youth led activities for over 1000 young people aged 10-21 years old a year. Half of our trustees are young adults under 25 years old. Regular activities at Living Space include monthly youth committee meetings, youth mentoring, sign posting, advice, homework and study support, arts projects, healthy lifestyle workshops and events ranging from fashion shows to launches of films made by local young people.

SE1 United works with many diverse partners to deliver high quality large scale events and exciting activities for young people aimed at giving young people a voice, positive image and new experiences which raise aspiration.

Annual events include:

  • The Youth Oskars Awards celebrating the achievements of young people
  • SE1 United Sports Day in Archbishop’s park
  • Southside FM Radio Station in partnership with The Hub
  • Anti youth on youth crime campaign

Specialist work includes youth consultation and research projects, youth representation at all levels of decision making, supporting youth leadership in community organisations and holistically enabling young people into paid employment opportunities.

LAMBETH CYPS NORTH LAMBETH TOWN CENTRE TEAM
Office at Living Space. Lambeth CYPS North Lambeth Town Centre Team provides leadership, management and coordination for all statutory youth and play services in North Lambeth. It is also responsible for developing partnerships between statutory and voluntary sector providers in North Lambeth. North Lambeth Youth and Play Providers Forum, a partnership forum open to all organisations and individuals providing services to children and young people in the area, is held monthly. The team has concentrated on developing local youth participation and schools work. it also coordinated school holiday programmes. The team is a reference point for schools and other agencies working with young people in the area. It is able to provide information about local youth and play provision and available funding for services.

HIRE OF ADVENTURE PLAYGROUND & FLOODLIT BALL-COURT
Our adventure playground is amongst one of the best & most modern to be found anywhere! It’s also available for private hire to both private individuals and groups/schools, outside of our scheduled supervised play sessions.

In addition we have an enclosed ball-court which is ideal for 5-a-side leagues, lunchtime & evening football and other games, and the court is also floodlit for year round use.

Facilities are available to hire, with concessionary rates for local community groups and organisations. The facility is ideal in terms of layout and location (2 mins. walk from Waterloo Station), for a wide range of uses including; launch events & presentations, seminars and conference events, web-site launches, public/trade exhibitions, training events, meetings and away-days, cultural and social events.
A full catering service is also available to complement this and ensure your event is a success. The building is also fully accessible for people with disabilities.

FILM LOCATION/VENUE
The site also offers many practical and exciting possibilities for use as a film location, and has been used by the BBC, Channel 4, & Tiger Aspect Productions, amongst others. We’re very centrally located, accessible and have all the facilities you might need to complete a shoot, including on-site catering to keep your crew happy!
